We are happy to report that the pecan harvest is plentiful this year. Although our vintage trees present us with their gift of pecans only every other year, as all pecan trees do, we have been blessed to receive a particularly rich harvest this year.
Last Sunday, a group visiting the Teaching Farm from St Luke's Catholic Church in Middleburg, Florida, heard a presentation about simple living and the work of Thomas Berry before breaking for a wonderful picnic lunch. We also took time to harvest a few boxes of delicious pecans and enjoy the beautiful weather. After lunch, we were treated to a great presentation on the quality of surface water in Florida from members of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection staff.
If you would like to come and help us gather the bounty we would love to hear from you. Call me at 352-468-3295 and we will set up a time for you and /or your group to spend a day at the farm.
